The Linnanmaa tenant patrol is the oldest neighbourhood watch in Oulu. Its purpose is to ensure the safety of residents’ belongings. Unfortunately, bicycle thefts are not uncommon in the area, and sometimes even cars get broken into. This is why the tenant patrol exists: so you don’t have to worry about the safety of your personal vehicles and other belongings.
However, the tenant patrol cannot rest on one person’s shoulders, but instead we need a lot of volunteers. The work itself is simple: every evening/night, a pair of tenant patrol volunteers goes around Yliopistokatu and Rakentajantie neighbourhood for some time to try and spot any suspicious activity. Since we have many volunteers, everyone has about two or three shifts a year, so the volunteering will take very little of your time and effort.
We hope that YOU volunteer for the tenant patrol and help ensure that we can all rest easy at night. To volunteer, simply tell us your and your partner’s contact information and the days on which you would prefer to patrol. If you do not have a partner, we can pair you up with another volunteer. Register now by e-mail in vartiorinki[at]linnanmaa.fi.
With a small contribution from everyone, we can all get a great mutual benefit!
